Communications

Toledo/Lucas County CareNet

One of my freelance clients is Toledo/Lucas County CareNet, for which I plan and execute integrated marketing communications. This includes developing annual reports, talking points, media relations efforts, client success stories, digital media content, advertising campaigns, fundraising materials, newsletters, and one-pagers and other collateral.

Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio

As the Communications Director at the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio, I was responsible for the regional hospital association’s integrated marketing communications planning and tactics.

My first challenge was working with partners to create the brand and presence for Healthy Lucas County, a community heath improvement coalition coordinated by the Hospital Council. Healthy Lucas County members include ProMedica, Mercy Health, the University of Toledo Medical Center, Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo, the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County, the YMCA of Greater Toledo, the United Way of Greater Toledo, the YWCA of Northwest Ohio, and other organizations.

Key to Healthy Lucas County’s communications is the coalition’s website, healthylucascounty.org. I produced and coordinated the website’s content for its July 2015 launch, and I continued to manage and build the website with news updates, photos, infographics, reports, and other content. I also served as Project Manager for the coalition, which conducts Lucas County’s triennial community health assessment and community health improvement plan.

To help keep partners updated on Healthy Lucas County’s initiatives and various events, I started an e-newsletter in May 2015. I launched and managed several social media channels for Healthy Lucas County and maintained the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio’s presence on LinkedIn. Plus, I handled media relations, collateral materials, advertising, and reports for various operations at the Hospital Council, and I worked with contractors within a budget.

Other job duties included writing grant and award applications, performing grant management, researching and composing industry white papers, coordinating events and fundraising efforts, and doing marketing communications for other Hospital Council programs and projects. This included the Northwest Ohio Pathways HUB and regional disaster preparedness.

ProMedica

One of my roles at ProMedica was leading all marketing communications for the Advocacy and Government Relations Division. This included communications planning, media relations and interactive media efforts for the collaborative Come to the Table initiative to address hunger as a health issue nationwide. The Blade ran several stories, including this one that was picked up elsewhere, and so did U.S. News & World Report and other national publications.

I took photographs and wrote content for the initiative, including this backgrounder and articles used by ProMedica and its partners. Additionally, I wrote for, edited, and coordinated content for the former Your Health magazine, including this cover package on mental health issues. I also led marketing communications for ProMedica human resources, safety, and other operations/initiatives.
